What is AIR? The full form of AIR is All India Radio. Founded by the Indian government, All India Radio (AIR), also known as Akashvani (literally, "Voice from the Sky"), is a state-owned public radio station that is controlled by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and is one of Prasar Bharati's two divisions. It was founded in 1936. It is the sister channel of the Indian television network Doordarshan, which is transmitted by Prasar Bharati. The Indian television network Doordarshan Kendra (Delhi) is based there, as are the Drama Section, FM Section, and National Service. Its headquarters are located at the Akashvani Bhavan complex in New Delhi.  420 stations are spread out around the nation as part of AIR's home service.

AIR is one of the biggest broadcasting companies in the world, with approximately 415 radio stations in around 23 distinct languages and 146 dialects. It also has 18 FM stations and 99% population coverage.
At first, All India Radio's only channel was solely commercial. Later, FM stations and the main networks started airing advertising.
Millions of music fans worldwide tuned in to this unique music countdown show. Ameen Sayani, who is currently the most copied radio broadcaster to this day, rose to fame thanks to the show. The program debuted in 1952 on Radio Ceylon and was moved to Vividha Bharati in 1989.
Kaufmann, originally from Prague, had worked for AIR as the director of music and had lived in Bombay for twelve years. In addition to studying Indian music, he has performed in a few movies.
Amitabh Bachhan, India's most well-known superstar, was also partially brought about by AIR. In his early years, Bachchan had an interview with AIR for a radio announcer position while hunting for a job.
