In this Bachelor of Science program, students majoring in business-related law learn about the legal framework for the successful operation of organizations in our economy and the social, ethical, and economic forces that shape those laws. Through the study of the laws supporting governmental, commercial, and nonprofit enterprises, students gain insight into decision-making in various sectors of the economy. The major courses include ethics, general business law, and sector-specific law courses, such as Legal Aspects of Health Organizations. The program prepares students to analyze complex problems, think critically, work collaboratively and communicate effectively through course work and related activities like internships. Students develop the skills needed in today’s workplaces, including synthesizing information, identifying factual and legal issues and policy considerations, and analogizing and developing persuasive arguments based on ethics, public policy, and law.

The program leading to the Bachelor of Science in business administration is based upon a philosophy of total student development. Students choosing this degree program are provided with an education that stresses an interdisciplinary approach. They are exposed to all aspects of the complex and changing business environment with a specific emphasis upon social, cultural, and political factors.

The total development objective creates a program blending a business education with that of the liberal arts. All students choosing a degree in business administration take a common core of 10 courses such as Principles of Management, Marketing, Human Resources Management and a capstone course called Business Policy and Strategic Planning. Additional courses are required in economics, accounting, math, computer information systems, English, social sciences and humanities.

The program includes sufficient electives to allow students the option of a dual concentration if they plan their program of study carefully. In addition, the liberal arts component provides a sound foundation for both behavioral and quantitative business majors through the broadening of the students’ social and cultural backgrounds.

Students in the business administration program gain an in-depth study of all facets of the business world. Students will study accounting, business law, human resource management and management problems and policies.

Classroom discussions are designed to help the student grasp fundamental principles and to motivate utilization of these principles in solving typical management problems.

Students graduating in business administration are qualified to assume positions as management trainees, working toward middle and upper-level management positions in a variety of businesses. Credits earned in the associate program are fully applicable toward the Bachelor of Science in business administration.

The Entrepreneurship minor is designed to develop entrepreneurial skills for business majors interested in the entrepreneurial activities in start‐up and corporate organizations.

The minor provides a basic overview of strategic entrepreneurial processes. Students will research business opportunities and models, investigate financial resources, and learn marketing and management skills.

The Entrepreneurship minor complements a variety of bachelor’s degrees, such as Management, Finance and Marketing.

Students minoring in the business management area of entrepreneurship will be exposed to and practice the skills needed by entrepreneurs in starting and developing their own businesses or growing the business of another entrepreneur.

he entrepreneurship major arms students with attitudes, skills, and knowledge to start new businesses, work in family businesses, join small entrepreneurial endeavors or even be in demand by established organizations. Graduates of entrepreneurial studies are action-oriented and have learned through practical experience using The Wayne House and Scranton Coin. 

The entrepreneurship concentration provides students with the required skills and knowledge to create a successful business venture as either an owner or a key player within the firm. Coursework includes small business management, business plan development, strategic planning, accounting, finance, and marketing. Students will gain broad exposure to local small businesses and will have the opportunity for hands-on learning through field experiences, internships, and participation in the university’s Center for Entrepreneurship, and Small Business Development Center.

The BS degree in Management prepares students with the quantitative and qualitative problem solving and teamwork skills to work with and lead people to achieve strategic organizational goals. Students are prepared to compete for management positions in local to global corporate, governmental, and non-profit sectors of the economy.  All baccalaureate business degree programs offered are nationally accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.

Your first step here will be to customize your own degree path, in a program ranked in the top 50 in the nation by Princeton Review.

You will choose four approved electives that may include courses from Business, Economics and Engineering, in addition to completing the core Management program. Students in this concentration receive a Bachelor of Science in Management and so much more.

The New Venture Creation: Entrepreneurship course will guide you through the creation of a new company around an innovative business idea in a project-based learning experience, with an emphasis on business planning for a venture-capital-scale enterprise. Every great entrepreneur must become a good intrapreneur, so the Intrapreneurship and Innovation Development course will equip you with the methods to innovate and build a continuing stream of new innovations. Courses in Entrepreneurial Finance, Entrepreneurial Thinking, Social Entrepreneurship and related subjects are available to round out your innovative abilities.

Not only will you learn the theory and concepts of leadership in innovation and entrepreneurship, you will put it into real world practice with one of the University’s employer partners in the Co-op program.

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Enterprise Management is a cohort model degree completion program designed for the non-traditional student who is interested in an integrated exposure to business concepts and decision-making processes. The courses are segmented by semester into stackable certifications, ultimately providing four marketable specializations: Accounting and Information Systems, Marketing, Enterprise Management and Entrepreneurship. The fourth semester provides a capstone experience, which incorporates an internship and community experience.  For students with an AS degree from a USHE institution, the BAS degree is 62 additional credits if ECON 2010 was not taken as part of the general education requirements. The curriculum is intentional in its preparation, with a focus on employable skills and multi-disciplinary learning. At each level of the program, students will be exposed to a new certification and relevant applications to enhance retention. This degree will include upper division courses in finance, information systems & analytics, management, and marketing. Students will also complete an internship or project and a community experience.

The Entrepreneurship degree provides students with the foundational knowledge they need to create, market, and fund new businesses and products. It covers the basic business concepts while also focusing on ways to foster innovation and creativity.  Students complete the program with the ability to prepare a business plan.

The program is designed to give you a strong foundation in the strategic, analytical, and tactical skills necessary to launch your own business or to become an innovative contributor to an established company or family business.

The Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship provides students with the required skill sets and expertise to explore their creativity, teach students step-by-step how to creatively solve real-world problems, apply a business model to their solutions, and then assess the feasibility of their start up idea. The interdisciplinary curriculum will enable students to learn how to effectively market, manage, and finance a new venture, preparing them to be productive, self-sustaining members of the community, while aiding in the economic development of the region and nation.

Once matriculated at NJCU, transfer students must complete at least 30 credits at NJCU to satisfy the university’s residency requirement. Students must also maintain a GPA of 2.5 or better in courses taken in the School of Business. Students must earn a grade of C or higher in each School of Business course (ACCT, BUSI, ECON, FINC, MGMT, MKTG) used in fulfillment of a graduation requirement.

The Strategic Business Development and Entrepreneurship major examines how business opportunities are identified and exploited for society through existing and new organizations. Students will learn to generate and evaluate ideas, develop those ideas into products and services, assemble resources, mitigate risks, and lead organizations that meet human needs. The degree prepares students to work within existing organizations as well as to create new organizations, both for-profit and not-for-profit.
