Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Ranking 2024

With its main campus in Blacksburg, Virginia, Virginia Tech (VT), formerly the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI), is a public land-grant research institution. On a state-wide level, it also has educational institutions in six areas. With 37,000 students and 280 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, Virginia Tech is the second-largest public institution in the state by enrolment as of 2016. The Virginia Tech Hokies are the name of the university's athletic teams, which participate in Division I of the NCAA as Atlantic Coast Conference teams.

On campus, there are more than 700 student organizations. These include the Chocolate Milk Club, a Young Life Chapter, BASIS at Virginia Tech, the largest student-run fixed income portfolio group in the US managing $5 million, and Bolt at Virginia Tech, which manufactures electric racing motorcycles. On-campus housing for Virginia Tech students totals over 9,300.

As per the subject rankings of Times Higher Education 2023, Virginia Tech is ranked #301-400 in Arts and Humanities, and #251-300 in Clinical, Pre-Clinical and Health. In Engineering and Technology, it is ranked #78. The University is ranked #301-400 in Life Sciences, and #251-300 in Physical Sciences. In Social Sciences, the University is ranked #176-200.
