The main campus of the University of Connecticut (UConn) is situated in Storrs, Connecticut. It is a land-grant public research university. The college received a public land grant in 1893, and in 1939 it changed its name to the University of Connecticut. In the ensuing ten years, graduate, social work, and nursing programs were all developed, and the university also took in the law and pharmacy schools.

In its 14 schools, the University of Connecticut provides more than 115 undergraduate programs. Six professional practice degrees are among the 17 graduate degrees offered by UConn. The University of Connecticut offers a wide variety of courses. Business and management, life sciences and medicine, engineering and technology, life sciences and medicine, social sciences, and natural sciences are some of the most popular courses offered at the institution. 

The university's campus is bursting with opportunities for students to engage in extracurricular activities and recreation in addition to their studies. The Thomas J. Dodd Research Center on campus is home to the world's biggest public research collection of modern American poetry.
