In Warrensburg, Missouri, there is a public university called the University of Central Missouri (UCM). On its 1,561-acre campus, 11,229 students representing 49 states and 59 nationalities were enrolled in 2019. 150 programs of study are available at UCM, including 37 graduate programs, 27 fields of teacher certification, and 10 pre-professional programs. 

There are more than 200 student organizations at the university, including clubs and groups for academic, cultural, recreational, volunteer, and special interest activities. There are also free movie nights on campus, more than 20 intramural sports to participate in, a bowling alley, and a theatre in the student union. To make the transition from high school to college easier, freshman and sophomore students are expected to live in one of the 16 residence halls during their first year. Additionally, students have the option to live in a Special Housing Interest Program, which groups residents in residence halls who are enrolled in the same academic program.

The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, or MIAA, is where UCM athletic teams compete. Basketball, baseball, women's bowling, American football, golf, women's soccer, softball, cross-country, track, volleyball, and wrestling are among the sports offered in the athletic division.
