Southern Methodist University Ranking 2024

With a satellite campus located in Taos County, New Mexico, Southern Methodist University (SMU) is a private research university based in University Park, Texas. On April 17, 1911, SMU was established by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, which is currently a member of the United Methodist Church, in collaboration with prominent Dallas citizens. All religious affiliations are welcome, and its teaching approach is non-sectarian. It falls under the "R-2: Doctoral Universities – High Research Activity" category.

The institution had 12,373 students as of fall 2020, making up the largest student body in SMU history with 6,827 undergraduates and 5,546 postgraduates. There are 1,151 instructors on staff as of autumn 2019, of whom 754 work full-time.

The university awarded more than 3,827 degrees in the 2020–21 academic year, including 315 doctorates, 1,659 master’s, and 1,853 bachelor’s degrees. It also provides more than 32 PhD and more than 120 master’s programs from eight schools.
