Oakland University Ranking 2024

Oakland University is a public research university located in Auburn Hills and Rochester Hills, Michigan. It is sometimes referred to locally as OU or Oakland. Established in 1957 by a gift from Matilda Dodge Wilson, it was formerly known as Michigan State University-Oakland and functioned under the board of trustees of Michigan State University until obtaining institutional autonomy in 1970.

One of Michigan's eight research universities, Oakland University is categorized as "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity." The Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine is one of the 138 professional graduate certificate, master's, and doctorate degree programs that the university provides in addition to its 132 bachelor's degree programs. In 2016, there were around 20,000 students enrolled overall.

The 1,443-acre campus of the university includes the Main Campus, Meadow Brook Estate, and two golf courses with national rankings. On the property sits Meadow Brook Hall, the fourth-largest historic home museum in the country and a U.S. National Historic Landmark.
