Louisiana State University Ranking 2024

Located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Louisiana State University (formally known as Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, or just LSU) is a public land-grant research institution. Originally known as the Louisiana State Seminary of Learning & Military Academy, the university was established in 1860 close to Pineville, Louisiana. The main campus of LSU was established in 1926 and comprises over 250 structures designed in the Italian Renaissance style by architect Andrea Palladio. The campus historic district is situated on a 650-acre plateau by the Mississippi River.

Being the most comprehensive university in the state, LSU is also the flagship of the Louisiana State University System and the state of Louisiana. The university's 14 schools and colleges welcomed approximately 28,000 undergraduate and over 4,500 graduate students in 2021. "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity" is the category in which it falls.
