Iowa State University, situated in Ames, Iowa, is a land-grant public research university. The Iowa Agricultural College and Model Farm, which was founded in 1858, later changed its name to Iowa State. On September 11, 1862, the Iowa Legislature approved the terms of the 1862 Morrill Act, making Iowa the first state in the union to do so.

By overall enrollment, Iowa State is the largest institution in the state of Iowa. The academic programs offered by the institution are managed by eight colleges. More than 125 graduate, over 80 doctorates, and over 100 undergraduate courses are available at Iowa State University. Pre-professional programs are also provided by the university. This enables pupils to get ready for professional schools like law schools and medical schools. 50 nations offer study abroad programs. Of all the programs, Iowa State University's Veterinary Science program is well-known. Students have a variety of education options at the College of Veterinary Medicine, including research and specialized or general practice.
