Private institution Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) specializes in aviation and aerospace studies. Its primary campuses are situated in Daytona Beach, Florida, and Prescott, Arizona. The institution was first established in 1926 at Lunken Field in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is the biggest network of authorized universities with an emphasis on aerospace and aviation. It offers a wide range of academic programs at satellite locations as well as online.

It started off as a local training facility for pilots and aircraft mechanics. Today, the university enrolls more than 33,000 undergraduate and graduate students because of the growth and development of its aviation and allied space disciplines.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has granted the non-profit university level VI accreditation, enabling it to grant associate, bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees. The Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) has approved the university's courses in aviation maintenance, air traffic management, aeronautical science, applied meteorology, aerospace and occupational safety, flight operations, and airport administration.

The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) has accredited the business bachelor's and master's degree programs. The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) has granted accreditation to all engineering programs.
