In Auburn, Alabama, the United States, there is a public research institution known as Auburn University (AU or Auburn). Auburn is the second-largest university in Alabama, with more than 24,600 undergraduate students, over 30,000 total students, and 1,330 academic members. It is among the two premier public universities in the state. Five Rhodes Scholars and five Truman Scholars are among the university's alumni, and it is ranked among "R1: Doctoral Universities - Very High Research Activity" institutions.

East Alabama Male College, a private liberal arts institution affiliated to the Methodist Episcopal Church, South Carolina, was the original name of Auburn when it was established in 1856.

The Princeton Review's ranking of the happiest college campuses in 2019 placed Auburn at the top, in part because of the diversity of on-campus activities and events that it offers. For incoming Auburn students, orientation and training programs mark the beginning of campus activities and events. Camp War Eagle and Successfully Orienting Students are two of Auburn's student orientation programs.
