The University of Hertfordshire, situated in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, is a public university. Most of the university's operations are headquartered in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. Hatfield Technical College, its predecessor organization, was established in 1948 and listed as one of the 25 colleges of technology in the United Kingdom in 1959. The British government gave Hatfield Polytechnic university status in 1992; as a result, it changed its name to the University of Hertfordshire. 

College Lane and de Havilland are the two campuses where Hertfordshire is primarily located. One of the twenty safest campuses in England is the one at the University of Hertfordshire. The university's two campuses are conveniently reachable by public transit.
