London South Bank University, located in Elephant and Castle, London, is a public university. Under the Further and Higher Education Act of 1992, the Borough Polytechnic Institute, which had been founded in 1892, was elevated to university status.

London South Bank University offers 172 undergraduate programs, 96 masters’, 31 research and doctorate programs, 46 continuing professional education courses, 22 short courses, and 5 foundation programs. There are foundation programs available in the areas of computing, health, business, and social care, as well as foreign undergraduate and master's degrees. These are preliminary entry programs for students. The flexible modules for LSBU's MBA in International Management can be taken full-time (12 months) or part-time (24 months). 

The Havering campus and the main campus of the London South Bank University are both situated in London Fare Zone 1, in the center of the vibrant city of London. The well-known South Bank Centre is a 10-minute walk from the university. At LSBU, students can live in four different residence halls: McLaren House, Dante Road, New Kent Road, and David Bomberg House. Standard or en suite rooms are available for 1,400 single bedrooms in total.
