The oldest and largest public technical institution in the Netherlands is the Delft University of Technology, which is situated in Delft. It boasts more than 27,000 undergraduate and graduate students, 6,600 staff members (teaching, research, support, and management), eight faculties, and numerous research centers.

King William II founded the institution as a royal academy on January 8, 1842, with the main objective of preparing civil workers for employment in the Dutch East Indies. Over time, the institution broadened its research and academic offerings, evolving into a polytechnic school in 1864 and an institute of technology (thus becoming a full-fledged university) in 1905. In 1986, it adopted the name Delft University of Technology.

Numerous student organizations and organizations support student life at TU Delft. Professional societies, social societies, and sport societies are general categories that can be used to describe them. More than half of the students at TU Delft are members of a recognized organization.

Employability Ranking

The Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, usually referred to as TU Delft, was ranked 47th in the world for graduate employability in 2017 and was also included in the top 50 for the indication of "employer reputation."
