Brisbane, Queensland, Australia's major coastal metropolis of Brisbane is home to the public research institution known as Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove, two campuses in the Brisbane region, are home to QUT. The Queensland University of Technology Act of 1988 converted the Queensland Institute of Technology (QIT) into a university, and the subsequent Queensland University of Technology started operations in January 1989. This marked the founding of the university in its current form. 

In 2020, QUT employed 5,049 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff members and had 52,672 enrolled students (39,156 undergraduates, 10,390 postgraduates, and 661 non-award students).

Students and staff can get assistance with studying and research from the QUT Library. QUT has three library branches: the Gardens Point branch, the Law branch, and the Kelvin Grove branch. Apart from lending and information retrieval services, the QUT library provides coursework students, faculty members, and researchers with specialized assistance.
