Medical informatics (also known as health informatics) is a field of science and engineering that develops methods and techniques for collecting, processing, and studying patient data from a variety of sources and formats including electronic health records, diagnostic test results, and medical data. The healthcare field presents a plethora of problems that can be solved using computational techniques.
