What is Fusion Science

Go back

Nuclear fusion occurs when two or more light nuclei combine to generate a heavier nucleus. This process takes place in elements with a small atomic number, such as hydrogen. Nuclear fusion is a reverse reaction to nuclear fission, in which heavy atoms disperse and generate lighter elements. Nuclear fusion, as well as fission, generates enormous amounts of energy. Every star in our galaxy, including the sun, is alive because of nuclear fusion, and they produce vast amounts of heat and energy as a result.
