What is Microsystem Engineering

Go back

In the multidisciplinary discipline of microsystem engineering, systems and technologies that are often at the micro- and nanoscale are designed, developed, and used. It incorporates components from physics, materials science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and other engineering fields. Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), which combine mechanical components, sensors, actuators, and electronics on a small scale, are frequently used in microsystems. Microfluidic devices, sensors, actuators, and other compact integrated systems are examples of microsystem engineering applications. The field is essential to consumer electronics, healthcare, and telecommunications sectors because component miniaturization can boost functionality, lower prices, and improve performance.
