• One official copy of all undergraduate (four-year degree) and graduate coursework, including a baccalaureate degree in accounting from an accredited institution. 
• An undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher (4.0 basis).
• A satisfactory test score of 450 or better on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or of 300 or better on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

• For international students, a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 80 on the internet-based exam or higher is required prior to admission. Candidates with less than an 80 TOEFL score will be admitted to the English as a Second Language (ESL) program.
  •  Entering MBA students are expected to have competency in basic computer, quantitative, and oral and written communication skills. Students that need to acquire these skills will be advised to take additional credit or non-credit courses to obtain these skills. Any credits taken to obtain basic skills may not, however, be applied toward the MBA degree.

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Option is designed to support careers using computer systems to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage and present spatial or geographical data in a variety of fields including management, logistics, insurance, and telecommunications.

The College of Business and Technology offers graduate work leading to the Master of Business Administration (MBA). MBA courses are offered by the Departments of Management and Marketing, Accounting and Finance, Economics and Decision Sciences, and the School of Computer Sciences. The WIU MBA is open to business graduates and those in liberal arts, engineering, mathematics, science, and other fields. Individual degree program requirement are based on previously completed coursework and may range between 33 and 54 semester hours. The MBA/JD program is a dual degree offered by the University Of Maryland Carey School Of Law and the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School to prepare students for complex challenges in business, industry, commerce, government organizations, and the nonprofit sector. The dual-degree program will provide a unique opportunity to add another dimension to the educational preparation of students who seek management and leadership responsibilities in legal practice, financing and delivery of legal services, development of new legal services, establishing and managing law firms, as well as pursuing a career focused on law and business in national and international  organizations and academic institutions.

The MBA/MHA Dual Degree Program integrates the AACSB-accredited MBA curriculum with the CAHME-accredited MHA curriculum for both the residential and online student. Competencies have been mapped to assure compliance with both accreditation bodies. The total credit hour completion for this dual degree is seventy (70) credits if HAD 581- Administrative Residency is required, or sixty-five (65) credits if HAD 580- Internship is required. Students must meet all admission criteria for both programs.

The B.A. and B.S. in Accounting degrees provide detailed insight into accounting principles, theory and specialties such as tax, cost and auditing. Students are prepared for positions in business, government, and other organizations. The degrees provide all the courses required for students to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination in Pennsylvania and some other states, as well as the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) examination.

In order to sit for the CPA examination in Pennsylvania, students must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 24 credits in accounting-related courses. CPA candidates in Pennsylvania are permitted to sit for the CPA exam with less than 150 credit hours, but will be required to complete all 150 credit hours and satisfy the work experience requirement prior to CPA licensure.
