The University of Saint Mary is a private institution founded in 1923, with a Catholic Christian religious affiliation to the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. It is accredited by the Kansas State Department of Education and has been named the Top 100 Most Affordable Small College West of the Mississippi.
The University of Saint Mary, known as USM in short, has two campuses with 1240 enrollments across both. While the Sisters of Charity arrived in Leavenworth in 1898 and started the Junior College in 1923, it became a co-ed college in 1988. With students from 46 states and 14 countries, the college is non-profit. USM gets international students from Finland, Trinidad, Brazil, Canada, the UK, Taiwan, and Colombia.
