The Clinical Mental Health Counseling, M.A., offered through the Department of Counselor Education, fulfills the educational requirements for the two levels of licensure as a professional counselor in the State of Illinois: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). The Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) through the year 2024. In addition, the program’s graduate students are eligible to sit for the National Counselor Examination (NCE) during their last year of study. A passing score on the NCE is one of the requirements for the LPC or LCPC.  

The Clinical and Translational Science master's program exists to prepare students for lifelong learning and careers in research and teaching. Individuals who may find the S&C track most beneficial include those who aspire to become: college or professional S&C coaches, sport performance specialists, occupational and physical therapists, athletic trainers, personal trainers, and wellness coaches.

The Master of Science (ScM) degree program begins in late August/early September, with the first year devoted to coursework followed by research and thesis, usually requiring an additional year in residence. The  ScM degree is similar to the MHS with regard to the required coursework, but they differ in the entrance requirements and in the thesis requirement.

The ScM is designed for students who have completed the prerequisite courses and have had at least one year of work experience in epidemiology or another scientific field.  Successful applicants may have published manuscripts and have conducted lab or field research. The ScM requires degree candidates to complete an original research project with depth and understanding of epidemiology in their topic area. ScM students submit their publishable quality thesis for approval to the University Graduate Board.

The Marriage and Family Therapy Master's Program is to prepare competent and ethical mental health professionals dedicated to improving the human condition through both prevention and intervention. As such, this degree will provide necessary experience to prepare students for licensure as Marriage and Family Therapists, with the curriculum providing extensive opportunities through clinical practicum courses to develop their skills in practical environments. Program faculty emphasize a multilevel, systemic perspective that includes individual internal relationship processes and reflects cultural meanings, constraints, and global complexity, with a particular focus on working with children.

The MSCVP program learning outcomes are:

• Develop cardiovascular perfusion competence (skills, knowledge, behaviors) that are portable across national and international healthcare and professional and professional environments.
• Facilitate a positive outcome for patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass.
• Gain expertise in medical, biological, and physical sciences in relation to cardiovascular perfusion.
• Facilitate adequate circulatory support with the use of ancillary devices.

The MSCVP program has a total of 88 credits over five consecutive semesters. The curriculum aligns with the Master's degree level standard of Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the ABCP Qualifications   Framework. It also provides the appropriate depth and breadth of knowledge, applied, specialized preparation in critical thinking and scholarly research, problem-solving and analysis, communications, leadership, professional capacity, and autonomy in the field of cardiovascular perfusion.

The M.S. in Counseling is a professional program to prepare students for a successful career in the counseling profession. The program's emphasis in postmodern praxis and commitment to social justice sets the tone of preparing counselors who can respond to complex issues in a variety of settings. The degree offers two concentrations, one in Professional Counseling and one in School Counseling, each being 60 units as a stand alone degree. Students who complete the appropriate concentration within the degree can apply to the California Board of Behavioral Sciences to become Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC). Coursework in the appropriate concentration prepares students to become counselors in grades K-12 through applying for the California Pupil Personnel Services School Counselor Credential (PPS). Students may also elect to combine concentrations, as core courses overlap, for a total of 72 semester units.

The Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) degree in Kinesiology/Physical Education provides initial teacher preparation at the master's degree level for qualified candidates who hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related discipline such as Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Outdoor Education, Human Performance, etc. The degree program is designed for college graduates whose undergraduate degrees did not include coursework or learning experiences necessary to meet CAEP/NASPE national accreditation standards and the Georgia Performance Standards in health and physical education necessary for Health and Physical Education P-12 teacher certification. Successful completion of the M.A.T. program leads to a T-5 Georgia Teacher Certification.

The Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery offers a unique Master of Science in Skin Biology and Dermatological Sciences (MS-SBDS) program. The program prepares students for careers and leadership in skin science and industry. The curriculum covers basic science and laboratory techniques, as well as management skills, grant & regulatory issues, enterprise issues, and clinical problems.

The Master of Science in Skin Biology and Dermatological Sciences program (MS in SBDS) is unique in its depth and breadth because it covers basic science research and laboratory techniques. In addition, the degree considers a variety of additional skills to help you succeed in industry and academia, for it considers management skills, grant writing, regulatory issues, enterprise formation issues, and clinical problems.

Skin biology includes many biological processes: development, perpetual differentiation and barrier maintenance, stem cell biology, tissue repair and regeneration, neogenesis, native and adapted immunity, and genetic disorders just to name a few. The areas represented in our research base include aging, microbiology, inflammation, immunology, genomics, pharmacology, biochemistry, cell and stem cell biology as well as clinical research using areas of a variety of skin disorders, aging, aesthetics, cancer, and wounds as a clinical touchpoint.

Training in all these aspects is currently not provided by any single program in the United States.
