The Master of Science (M.S.) in Agricultural Sciences graduate program offered by the Department of Agriculture, Nutrition, and Food Systems (ANFS) offers a flexible course of study that provides education and research experience in plant and animal agriculture, aquaculture, food systems, and related fields.

Emphasis is placed on acquiring basic and practical knowledge and research experience in one of the following core emphasis areas:

1. Diverse components of plant and animal agricultural systems including: breeding and genetics, physiology, environmental interactions, organismal health, agroecology, and pathology. Student are exposed to production systems, including field based, hydroponics, and aquaculture, as well as post-harvest practices.
   1. Food systems analysis to address the social, economic, and environmental relationships that shape outcomes in plant and animal agricultural systems. Students work on food and agriculture related questions and challenges ranging from food production, processing, aggregation and distribution, access, consumption, and management of food waste. 

The Department of Wildlife and Natural Resources offers a Master of Science in Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences. Students who pursue this degree will have two track options:

• The Professional (Non-Thesis) Track is designed for students who desire to complete coursework that will further qualify them for public or agency employment, as well as strengthen advancement opportunities in their current or future employment.

The MS degree in Horticulture may be earned for a program of study comprising at least 30 hours of work including credit for graduate thesis work, which constitutes a major portion of the degree program.  Opportunities to develop research projects exist in a broad range of horticultural topics such as:

• Ornamental plant selection and evaluation
• Low-temperature tolerance
• Landscape plant production
• Blueberry physiology and hardiness
• Pomology
  • Greenhouse management

The Master of Science in Agriculture includes coursework in research methods, statistics, and all major disciplines in agriculture. Students have the opportunity to specialize within a field of agriculture if they choose or they can select the option that allows for certification in Agricultural Sciences and Technology, which allows them the opportunity to teach in public schools of Texas. Students are strongly encouraged to complete an internship, and for those wishing to pursue further graduate studies, a thesis option is available

Atmospheric scientists assess and forecast weather patterns, analyze trends in the climate, monitor air quality and more. The next generation of atmospheric sciences experts will be part of the solution in tackling the evolving challenges of our planet.

The Master of Agricultural Education (MAGED) is a professional degree designed to provide excellent academic programs, timely outreach and service programs, and cutting-edge research programs in South Carolina to enhance Clemson University’s effort to reach a position of leadership among public universities in the United States. Agricultural Education is accountable for teaching, research, and service activities within the public education system by preparing and maintaining professionals. This coincides with the Universities mission “to establish a “high seminary of learning’ through its landgrant responsibilities of teaching, research, and extended public services.” The program is an academic unit of professionals who discover, adapt and disseminate knowledge and technologies to our students and community. The focus is to provide educational and leadership training for future agricultural leaders and teachers of science and agriculture for South Carolina’s secondary education system. The program is committed to producing highly qualified graduates which is congruent with the Universities goals “to develop students’ communication and critical-thinking skills, ethical judgment, global awareness, and scientific and technological knowledge.” The program strives to lead the state and nation in addressing emerging challenges related to the development of current and future agricultural educators and supporting the needs and objectives of the educational system at Clemson University and the people of South Carolina.

The College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) offers graduate work leading to the Master of Science degree with a Major in Agricultural Production and Concentration in Professional Science Master’s (PSM). Fields of specialization within this interdisciplinary program include Food Animal Production, Crop Production, and Sustainable Production Systems. In addition to the rigorous scientific training in the area of agricultural production, instruction is provided in applied business knowledge and skills. This program is designed for those who seek careers in a science-based setting with significant managerial and leadership responsibilities.

The Master of Science in Human Environmental Sciences is designed for graduate students who seek to improve the lives of individuals, families and communities.  Students complete 30 semester hours of coursework designed to prepare them for advancement in their professional discipline.  A capstone project is required during the final term of enrollment.  Areas of focus within this degree program include:

• Clothing and Textiles
• Conflict Resolution (stand-alone graduate certificate is also available)
• Consumer Quality Management
• Human Environmental Sciences
