This program is technology-focused, providing a foundation in the study of innovative design work with a focus on social media, web and product development, animation, apps, and 3D printing technology.

The interdisciplinary Creative Technologies major emphasizes design and practice in the integration of digital technologies and the fine arts.

• The Digital Design degree is a liberal arts, generalized undergraduate program that provides exposure to the varied design fields in media and prepares students for employment or graduate study in a wide range of industries.
• Because the field is evolving and broad, exposure to the breadth of opportunities is an explicit objective, as is comprehensive education in the basic principles of visual design using computer technologies.
• Initial coursework emphasizes intellectual development of relevant principles of art and design, hand-eye coordination and development of student projects with both traditional, analog and digital tools.
• The program progressively builds in complexity and provides opportunities for student-selected detailed investigation into areas of interest (e.g. game design, character design, interactive product design), or continued exploration in the breadth of opportunities.
• It is an additional objective that students understand and be able to utilize a variety of applications and tools to be able to select the right one for the design problem at hand, and develop strategies for learning new tools and techniques in order to grow and learn when those change and evolve.

The Digital Arts and Design Digital Sound Design degree lays a solid foundation for a career in sound design, soundtrack production, music software/technology, digital sound design, and audio production. Learn conceptual and practical skills to design sounds used in music, entertainment, and software industries. Do this all with the newest technologies.

As an art student at Trinity, internships provide practical preparation for your career. Specializations in the fine arts will help you focus on your talents. Built on the creative and intellectual foundation of the fine arts, the art department also offers concentrations in courses that can lead to graduate school in fine art or careers in the graphic arts. The program culminates with an internship and an exhibition in the College’s Seerveld Gallery.

Digital Arts investigates the use of digital technology as a means of creative expression. The major prepares students for multi-disciplinary collaboration and large-scale project management, skills which are essential for both graduate studies and careers in new media, music technology, digital video, 3D animation, graphic design, game design, and audio production.

The curriculum brings together faculty with specializations in visual art and audio/music technology to provide students with an environment where they can explore the inter-relationships among various media, stretch the boundaries of creative practice, and develop a strong conceptual framework.  Courses within the program emphasize the completion of original creative projects, thereby allowing students to develop hands-on experience with a variety of hardware and software tools. The curriculum culminates in a capstone experience, the senior thesis exhibition, in which digital art and studio arts majors work together to present a group exhibit showcasing each participant’s work.

This concentration gives students the background necessary to produce strong visual sequences. Students in the Digital Visual Effects Concentration would typically be preparing for a career in video and cinematography production, video editing, visual effects compositing, and 2D and 3D motion graphic design.

The Communication major provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design, manage, and evaluate communication processes involving individuals, groups, and the public. Graduates develop strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills as well as an advanced ability to analyze and critique messages, behaviors, and media.
