Western Kentucky University (WKU), founded in 1906 by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, is a public university situated in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Accreditation, Number of Students and Faculties

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accredits Western Kentucky University for awarding specialist, doctoral, masters and baccalaureate degrees. More than 20,000 students are currently enrolled at this university. They are culturally diverse and represent about 67 nations around the world. 

University Campus, Facilities, Labs and Courses

The main campus of Western Kentucky University is situated in Bowling Green, Kentucky. There are other regional campuses in Owensboro, Elizabethtown and Glasgow. The campuses of WKU are labeled as dry campuses. There are five Student Technology Centres or general usage computer laboratories on the main campus of WKU. WKU provides research lab facilities for Psychology Sciences, Geographic Information Science, Advanced Materials Institute and Thermal Analysis, and the Office of Research and Creative Activity.

Admission Eligibility Criteria

Freshman requirements

  • The candidate must secure a minimum of 2.00 unweighted GPA in high school.
  • Students who have secured an unweighted GPA of 2.50 or higher in high school may not submit their SAT or ACT test scores for admission but are recommended to do so for better academic placement. 
  • Students who have secured an unweighted GPA of 2.00 to 2.49 must submit their SAT or ACT test scores for admission purposes and for achieving a CAI score of 60 at least. 

Graduate requirements

  • The minimum requirement for graduate school admission is an earned bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2.75 GPA is required on a 4.0 scale from a regionally accredited university or college. 
  • An additional GMAT or GRE test score if required. 

Documents, Test and Average Score Required

Freshman

  • Official transcripts reflecting the academic grades and achievements of six semesters of high school. 
  • Two credits of a single world language are suggested but will not affect admission at WKU.
  • The candidate must secure a minimum of 2.00 unweighted GPA in high school and furnish proof of the same.
  • SAT and ACT test scores are mandatory if the candidate has secured an unweighted GPA of 2.00 to 2.49 and for achieving a CAI score of 60 at least. These scores are also required. 

Graduate

  • Application form and fee. 
  • A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university. 
  • A minimum of 2.75 GPA is required on a 4.0 scale from a regionally accredited university or college. This has to be submitted to the institution. 
  • An additional GMAT or GRE test score if required. 
  • Official transcripts.
