The Professional Land and Resource Management (PLRM) major is one of a handful in North America and is accredited by the AAPL (American Association of Professional Landmen), which allows our students to compete nationally for scholarships. Our students are the business leaders and entrepreneurs of the future. The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Marketing program at the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration is designed to prepare students to compete in a rapidly changing and competitive marketplace. Students will graduate well versed in technology applications, as well as in managing service producing industries and international marketing activities.

Advertising is an integral part of the Strategic Communication major and prepares you for a variety of professions in the dynamic and lucrative world of advertising, as well as related fields.

You will have the opportunity to hone your professional abilities in a well-designed sequence of classes that will gradually and systematically enhance your knowledge and skills in several fields of advertising. That sequence starts with a general introductory class—Principles of Advertising—that examines advertising from several perspectives: creative, psychological, economic, business, marketing, research, social, ethical, legal, etc. Two classes on advertising creative strategy and one class on electronic media advertising consolidate your preparation in creating advertising that is not only aesthetically appealing, but can also deliver a strategic message.

Interactive media technology is an emerging concentration that incorporates multiple disciplines, such as moving image art, visual arts, and communications. It encompasses the design and production of media components, interactive Web programming, visual design, animation, interactive design, digital publishing, writing for new media, user interface design, responsive Web design, and project management.

From mobile apps to websites, interactive solutions come in all forms. Whatever your passion, a our Interactive media design concentration can help you harness the technical, artistic, and management aspects of this dynamic career. You'll learn what it takes to work with high-performing interactive teams and how to develop products that make a difference.

Systems Administration is the fast growing field. Students in this concentration are exposed to more computer science requirements, such as programming, data-architecture, networking administration and network security.  Many graduates in this concentration are hired as technical professionals.

A systems administrator, usually just called a systems administrator or a sysadmin, is a person who manages the computer systems of a corporation, institution, or department. An information systems administrator can work in nearly any industry, from the corporate world to education, health care, and non-profit. Some organizations have whole teams of sysadmins, while others have one.

Cybersecurity is a growing field in the information technology community.

Students will learn about how Cyberspace and its underlying infrastructure are vulnerable to a wide range of risk stemming from both physical and cyber threats and hazards. 

As a student in this concentration, you are encouraged to claim computer science as your official minor. Compared to majoring in computer science, this concentration includes crucial hard-core technical curriculum in addition to cybersecurity skill classes which are not covered in the computer science curriculum.

The Master of Science in Computer Engineering is designed to prepare a person for a career in the computer design and application field. There are several areas of concentration available.

The computer engineering master's program will help you broaden and deepen your knowledge of computer architecture, embedded systems, and VLSI design by combining hardware and software to create systems.

Chemical engineers use design skills supported by their knowledge of the sciences to develop techniques to manipulate molecules that make up chemicals. They design ways to make new chemicals, improve the use of chemicals, manage energy systems, and destroy harmful chemicals before they enter the environment. This mastering of chemicals allows them to perform an amazing array of jobs that result bettering our global society.

The new bioengineering concentration in the chemical engineering major is designed to enhance employment opportunities for our chemical engineering graduates. 

Over the last three years, we have seen an increase in the number of students entering the chemical engineering program with the specific goal of continuing medical school after graduation or finding job opportunities in bioengineering directly linked with renewable energy, environmental remediation, biomedical applications, or pharmaceutical operations.

A bioengineering concentration will prepare you for employment opportunities in other pharmaceutical applications, but also waste treatment, conversion of biomass into energy, fermentation operations, biomedical engineering, and many other bioengineering applications.

Civil engineering is a challenging profession that serves and addresses the needs of the public. If you enjoy the development of technical solutions that serve the community, you may have what it takes to be a civil engineer.

Civil engineers oversee large construction projects, including designing, constructing, supervising, and maintaining road systems and the accompanying infrastructure, buildings, airports, and systems for water treatment, hydroelectricity, and more. With the national economy's recovery, civil engineering jobs are expected to grow 20 percent in the next decade, which is faster than average.

Electrical engineers design, develop, test, and supervise the manufacturing of electrical equipment, such as electric motors, radar and navigation systems, communications systems, and power generation equipment. Electronics engineers design and develop electronic equipment, such as broadcast and communications systems—from portable music players to global positioning systems (GPS)

It means that UL Lafayette is the only university in the state where you will learn how to generate concepts and products that optimize the purpose, significance, and form of products for consumers and producers. Industrial design is a unique field that emphasizes practical concern for design restrictions while creating products that cater to human characteristics, requirements, and interests.

The four-year professional degree in industrial design encourages collaborative and experiential learning with diverse disciplines, and we work to create a hands-on learning environment that is conducive to creative exploration. We emphasize a broad understanding and sensitivity to environmental and social concerns, while working to help you develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. We want you to advance in industrial design with the knowledge that user needs, universal design, sustainability, human-centered design, and ergonomics all play an integral role in industrial design.

Mechanical engineering is a versatile and varied field, with opportunities from the stars to below the soil. We have a design-centered curriculum, which means you don't just learn the principles — you put them to the test. Our students design machinery and processes, beginning with modeling in your Mechanical Engineering 101 course and culminating in a senior design course. Our faculty are here to help you every step of the way, lending their expertise and recruiting industry professionals to mentor and coach you.

As a petroleum engineer, you can travel across the world and explore the high seas, remote jungles, vast deserts, and mountain ranges to develop oil and gas reserves where no one has drilled before. Your job is to help boost energy production of countries around the globe, helping to elevate local and national economies. You can work in other countries and develop a deep understanding of new cultures, all while helping companies across the globe meet the demand for safe, affordable, and clean energy.

The Master of Science in Engineering is designed to develop a capability of applying advanced techniques to problem-solving in engineering. Core engineering courses coupled with courses in the selected disciplinary concentration provide both specialization and a broad fundamental knowledge of the selected engineering discipline.  Both thesis and non-thesis programs are available.

Undergraduate students in the School of Kinesiology have six stellar concentration options to prepare themselves with the mental toughness and the flexibility needed to pursue a variety of career opportunities after graduation. During their time in the School of Kinesiology, our undergraduate students stay active, physically and mentally. Exercise science students participate in varied research experiences that open the door for them to network at regional and national events by presenting what they have learned. Students in Sport Management learn first-hand about the in's-and-out's of operating a sports related business through participation in semester-long internships. The year-long Teacher Residency alongside the best Physical Education mentors keeps our Heath and Physical Education Grades K-12 majors in top shape, and our Health Promotion and Wellness students are out and about in the region participating in allied health rotations with local experts in the field.

A Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (CIP code 260101) can open the door to career opportunities in life sciences, biotechnology and medical professions. Some students use the degree as a stepping stone toward a graduate program leading to a Master’s or Ph.D. degree. Still others use the degree to qualify for acceptance into a professional school, such as dentistry, physical therapy and optometry. Our Bachelor of Science in Biology with concentration in Ecology, Evolution and Marine Biology (concentration code EEMB) is an excellent choice for students interested in pursuing graduate studies in environmental or evolutionary biology. In addition, graduates in this concentration will be well prepared for careers in federal and state environmental agencies and laboratories, botanical gardens and arboretums, wildlife refuges, coastal restoration companies, zoological parks and aquariums, environmental assessment and consulting firms, and marine stations.
