The University of Alabama is precisely known as UA. This university is a public research university in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The university was established in 1820 but actively started its enrollment process in 1831. 

UA is the oldest public research university in Alabama and the University of Alabama system.

Average Scores

A student must have an average GPA of 3.71 in high school class. A combination grades of A’s and B’s but preferably more A’s over B’s are considered as an average eligible score to apply for UA. A lower GPA is compensated by AP or IB classes.

The University of Alabama admission requirements are as follows:

  •  An overall score of 3.0 GPA on a scale of 4.0 for each graduate applicant.
  • The majority of the courses do not require an admission test score at present. Any admission test score, say, GRE 300 or above, GMAT 500 or above, MAT & MCAT 50%, is needed to qualify for the application procedure.
  • Upload unofficial transcripts with a minimum score of 15 credits in high school academic performance.

  • UA has an incorporated scholarship for the students who complete the admissions submitting all the supportive documents before January 15.
  • To qualify for student aid, international and national students need to complete FAFSA (Free Application For Federal Student Aid) and submit the required documents to Student Financial Aid.
  • The students who are admitted without test scores will have to appear for a competitive scholarship conducted by the university.

Application Deadlines

The international students are supposed to complete their application 180 days before the beginning of the semester. The application deadlines vary from department to department, so it is suggested to communicate with their respective departments. 

  • For the fall semester (August - December), the application deadline is on May 1
  • For the spring semester ( January - May), the application deadline is on October 1
