Our broad accounting curriculum—including courses in management, communications, ethics, and data analytics—allows students to gain knowledge in all aspects of the accounting field. Accounting students learn effective strategies for assembling, analyzing, and reporting financial data for a wide range of entities. Internships offer the opportunity for students to put their knowledge into action.

Students graduate ready to start their careers in for-profit or nonprofit organizations; continue their education in graduate school; or obtain professional accounting certifications such as the certified public accountant (CPA) and the certified management accountant (CMA).

As a business management major, you will receive the skills and knowledge to prepare you for a leadership role in a business organization. Our courses in the functional areas of business provide a solid foundation of business concepts in management, marketing, finance, and accounting. Students have the ability to choose electives that reflect specific career interests.  Many of our students elect to gain valuable experience by participating in an internship.

Through the health care management major at Springfield College, students will be prepared for leadership roles in one of the fastest growing industries in the country.

As a marketing major, you will receive the skills and knowledge to prepare you for a successful career in a field that is in strong demand by employers. Our marketing major focuses on the critical aspects of marketing, including strategies relating to product development and management, branding, pricing, promotion, and distribution. The development of each student's marketing planning and communication skills are emphasized throughout the curriculum.

Experiential learning is highlighted in many upper-level courses through business simulations and case studies. Therefore, you’ll learn by doing. Career paths for marketing majors are unlimited as opportunities are available in many industries. Some students elect to complement their marketing studies by pursuing a minor in psychology, graphic design, or creative writing

Since 1946, Springfield College has prepared recreation and park professionals for exciting careers that have a positive impact on our society through improved health and wellness, protection of open space, and promoting social equality and human connection to nature. Leadership, management, and programming skills are emphasized within the curriculum along with internship experiences, so you’ll graduate prepared to make a difference in your field. In addition to an excellent education, graduates are eligible to sit for the Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification exam as early as their final semester on campus.

The biology major at Springfield College offers diverse exposure to the key areas of study in the life sciences. Core science courses, including bioscience, ecology, microbiology, chemistry, and physics, provide a foundation in biology; mathematics coursework is also required. Through electives, students have the opportunity to tailor the major toward what interests them—from human anatomy to plant science to cell biology to chemistry.

Computing is part of everything we do—from health and medicine to business and education, from analysis, research, and engineering to art, design, and entertainment. In fact, the computer science occupation is expected to grow 11 percent, faster than average, between now and 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. That’s why the Springfield College computer and information sciences major offers courses that have direct relevance and importance across industries, allowing you to achieve your career goals.

Students have the freedom to choose from three tracks: software development, internet and network security, or systems management.

The environmental science major at Springfield College provides more than a traditional classroom education. With innovative course offerings, frequent in-field experiences, and an interdisciplinary format spanning a variety of programs and areas of interests, this major will help prepare you for the environmental science career that you want, whether it’s in nonprofit, government, compliance, environmental law, or other related industries.

You won’t just learn how human activity impacts the environment, you’ll also obtain the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to contribute to solutions to global environmental issues. Designed to help you become a leader in both natural and manufactured environments, the environmental science major will assist in developing the skills you need to confront challenges faced by citizens, businesses, governments, and non-governmental organizations.

Explore your options through our general studies major. You’ll create a self-designed major, using framework based on our general education model and your interests, in consultation with a general studies advisor. Components of the major include the general studies core and a disciplinary or multidisciplinary concentration, which will provide you an opportunity for both breadth and depth of study. The general studies major is an excellent area of study for students who want to design an interdisciplinary major, explore their own unique interests, and prepare for graduate school or a variety of careers.

Whether you’re interested in becoming a mathematician, teacher, or furthering your education in graduate school, the Springfield College mathematics major is the perfect option. It offers a traditional program of study in mathematics that may be complemented with an optional teacher certification in secondary education. 

The mathematics major will provide you with a solid background in both pure and applied areas of mathematics. Offerings in mathematical analysis, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, and probability theory are supplemented by courses in abstract algebra, geometry, and mathematics seminar. As a mathematics major, you’ll also have the opportunity to complete a minor in areas such as computer science, computer programming, business management, and economics.

The Springfield College mathematics and computer technology major provides students with core knowledge in math, as well as a broad range of computer skills that are highly valued in today’s job market. 

Students have the freedom to choose from one of three concentrations, including computer science, which provides knowledge of computer architecture and databases; mathematics, which focuses on areas such as mathematical analysis and abstract algebra; or learning applications, our most popular track, which prepares students to teach special education, as well as elementary or middle school math.

Our curriculum includes classes in microcomputer applications, computer graphics, computer animation, hypermedia, and discrete mathematics, all of which teach crucial quantitative and critical-thinking skills valued by employers. Students will learn in computer labs with math-based software, and have an opportunity to pursue practicum and internships, giving them the chance to learn by doing.

Our movement and sports studies major offers a comprehensive understanding of the scientific and social foundations of movement and its cultural forms of dance, sports, games, and exercise.  Students engage in self-selected and career-focused fieldwork in settings that may include YMCAs, fitness centers, colleges/universities, before/after school programs, and more.

Graduates of the movement and sports studies program work in school and community-based agencies, including YMCAs and recreational facilities. Graduates also pursue graduate education in physical education, athletic administration, advanced level coaching, sport management, adapted physical education, health promotion, and sport and exercise psychology.

The sport management major at Springfield College will train you in all facets of the sports industry to prepare you for a career in the continually growing international business of sport management.  Sport operation has become more sophisticated and complex. In order to effectively manage these sports programs and facilities, you’ll need to be familiar with the intricacies of sport operations and also be effective in management and administration—the exact formula that Springfield College takes to educate its sport management students.

The sport management major is designed to provide you with the opportunity to develop expertise in business management with an orientation toward the world of sport. You’ll be able to hone your skills and expertise through internships with organizations such as the Boston Celtics, American Hockey League, UMASS Athletics, Brooklyn Nets, Sporting Kansas City, Boston College Athletics, New York Red Bulls, Travelers Championship, Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, and more.

In the Springfield College sports biology major, we combine two of the things we’re best known for: science and athletics.

The early curriculum for this preprofessional program gives students a grounding in the basic sciences as well as an opportunity to interact with highly qualified faculty to help students define their career objectives. From there, students take advanced courses in science and movement and have the opportunity to participate in  research and/or a shadowing program to provide hands-on, real world experiences in careers that blend scientific knowledge with athletic studies. 

As a graduate from the sports biology major, students can enter health professions, pursue graduate schools, and enter leadership roles in newly evolving careers in sports science and sports medicine.
