The Shippensburg University (also called Ship), established in 1871, is a public university and the only institute in Pennsylvania, USA, to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in civil and computer engineering. According to the U.S. News Rankings 2022, it is ranked #94 among regional universities North. 

The institute is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which acts as a marker for its academic excellence. The schools in the university are also accredited by various organizations like the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the American Chemical Society, and Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications. Ship saw  2,354 undergraduate and 274 graduate students for the spring session of 2020. 

Located in south-central Pennsylvania, the 210-acre university campus has state-of-the-art facilities for learning, recreation, and living. It consists of structures like the Ezra Lehman Memorial Library, a wellness center, the Ceddia Union Building housing the campus book store, gaming areas, and other recreational centers. The campus is also home to numerous public computer labs and the Burd Run Interdisciplinary Watershed Research Laboratory for collecting and analyzing environmental data using a single watershed. 

The Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania comprises 240 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, with the option of online courses. Some popular study areas include psychology, criminal justice, business administration and management, biology, and journalism. The university has an acceptance rate of 94% as of Fall 2020. 

Among the numerous graduates from the University, few have stood out due to their excellence in various fields. For instance, Jeanne Shaheen graduated from Ship and has served as the senior US Senator from New Hampshire since 2009. Chris Rab, an American TV personality, stunt performer, and filmmaker, is also an alum of the University. Some other names include John Bahnsen, a retired army brigadier general, and Justin Jordan, a comics writer.
