The Agricultural College of the State of Montana was established in 1893 as the key land-grant college in the State. It was then renamed as the Montana College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, while also being known as the Montana Agricultural College (MAC).The institution had assumed the name of Montana State College by the 1920s and it became a university in 1965, with approval granted by the 39th legislative assebly of the State. It has 14,668 undergraduate students along with 2,173 graduate students. There are 51.6% male and 47.7% female students at the university along with international students hailing from 59 countries. The student to faculty ratio stands at 17:1.The University has its campus at Bozeman, Montana. It has research and study centers including the Center for American Indian and Rural Health Equity, Molecular Biosciences Program, Military Science, Montana Area Health Education Center, Spectrum Lab, Wheeler Center, Thermal Biology Institute, Research Computing Group, and the Montana Space Grant Consortium.The University has more than 250 undergraduate programs and 115+ graduate programs on offer for residents. There are 20 job-oriented programs offered by the Gallatin College as well.
