Strict entrance requirements apply to Louisiana Tech University. For acceptance, they assess your high school courses, high school GPA, and test results (ACT or SAT). Then the applications are processed in the middle of July, and the admissions results are announced on a rolling basis. When new information (such as test results, midterm or final transcripts, etc.) becomes available, students who are initially denied admission will be put on a waitlist and reevaluated.
Every student is encouraged to submit an application for admission and to communicate with their admissions counselor at each stage of the procedure.
Documents required for admission into the Louisiana Tech University
Please ask the coordinator of the graduate program(s) for which you are interested about the GRE requirements. If the GRE is required, the ETS should get the official scores directly. Louisiana Tech University's institution code is 6372.
International applicants are further required to show proof of English language proficiency in addition to the regular admission requirements. The following is a list of exclusions to this criterion.
The following documents are acceptable as proof of English proficiency:
- iBT, or iBT Paper Edition with a minimum score of 80, or 8.5 on the TOEFL Essentials Test. The Educational Testing Centre (ETS) must send the official score, which can be at most two years. Louisiana Tech University's institution code is 6372.
- IELTS with at least a 6.5 overall (across 4 modules) score The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) must send the official score, which cannot be older than two years.
- A minimum score of 105 on Duolingo. The official score must be at most two years and must be given via your Duolingo account.
- A minimum PTE (Pearson Test of English) score of 58. Pearson Academic must send the official grade, which cannot be older than two years.
- As additional documentation of English competence, Louisiana Tech University now accepts the English Language Schools' ELS Level 112 intensive English course completion certificate.
- Each candidate must take an effort to research and fulfill the test prerequisites for a particular degree program. Before registering for the session in which the student plans to enroll, official test results must be on file with the Graduate School.
For International Students: Additional Requirements
- Passport photocopy Affidavit of Support photocopy
- A recent bank statement that reflects the minimum yearly amount stated on the current affidavit of Support and is less than six months old
- The aforementioned papers can be provided when the application is submitted or upon request from Graduate Admissions.
Examination Requirements for Louisiana Tech University
The following conditions must be met by IN-STATE STUDENTS:
- Regents' Core for High School: 19 units (from Core 4 Curriculum, see below)
Either:
- High school act/sat: act composite of at least 23 or set of at least 1130 with a minimum core GPA of 2.0. High school core GPA of at least 2.5.
- No continuing education is required: minimum act subscores in English and math of 18 and 19, respectively, or minimum sat subscores in English of 500 and math of 510.
