The state of Hawai‘i granted a charter of incorporation to Hawai‘i Pacific University (HPU) in 1965. In 2014, it merged again with Oceanic Institute, making it a pioneer in interdisciplinary research and innovative learning in Honolulu. It ranks #70 among the Best Colleges in Regional Universities, West, according to the US News and World Report 2022.  

HPU is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) and has many more accreditations for the plethora of courses it offers. It is a member of the Hawai‘i Public Health Association, The National League for Nursing, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. The Nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). There are nearly 700 graduates at HPU with a 15:1 student-faculty ratio.        

With four campuses of the Hawai‘i Pacific University, the main campus is located in downtown Honolulu which has a College of Business and College of Liberal Arts. The other campuses are Hawai‘i Loa Windward which houses many educational courses with the College of Health and Society and College of Natural and Computational Science as the significant ones, Makapu'u Campus has an unwavering inclination toward aquaculture, coastal resource management, and biotechnology, and the Military Campus that helps the military personnel in achieving their goals. The University has more than 50 undergraduate courses on campus and online courses. It has an acceptance rate of 81%. 

The University has produced 40,000 alumni so far and has an Alumni Council to enhance the network. Sarah Louise Palin is an American politician and author who has also served as the governor of Alaska for three years. Benny Agbayani is a retired baseball player who graduated from HPU. Carolyn Suzanne Sapp is an actress, singer, and motivational speaker who completed her studies at Hawai‘i Pacific University.   

Numerous resources are set up at the University to help students get employed after the course completion. A Career Development Center at HPU entails manifold resources for employers and students. The center proffers information about internship opportunities, employment information for international students, and options to explore the Federal Work-study and other campus jobs.
