Not only can Big Data improve efficiencies and profits for healthcare organizations, but it can also lead to vast improvements in patient care and public health overall. But, in order for the healthcare industry to benefit from Big Data, it needs people who can make sense of that data, recognize patterns, identify new opportunities, solve problems, and communicate what they've learned to management and healthcare practitioners.

When you major in health services management at D’Youville, you will develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities that you need to become a healthcare manager or to pursue further study in a graduate health professions program like physical therapy. The program uses internship and capstone experiences to ensure graduates apply what they have learned in real time in today’s dynamic and complex healthcare system.

D'Youville's History program focuses on American culture and its interaction with European, Russian, Asian and Middle Eastern cultures.

Your coursework is integrated with social science, philosophy, religion, and the arts. History majors learn to provide insights that help others understand the differences in how groups exercise power, make decisions and respond to change.

Upon graduation, you'll be prepared you for a wide variety of careers, including positions in private industry, corporations, educational facilities, or federal, state and local governments. Other career paths for History majors are lawyer, librarian, biographer, genealogist, diplomat and museum curator.

D'Youville's Philosophy program focuses on examining ideas which have shaped our intellectual heritage. The coursework is designed to develop strong analytical, critical thinking, and writing skills. You'll learn to analyze, compare, and evaluate ideas in order to formulate policies on personal and social levels.

A Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Science (BSPS) prepares students to work in entry-level technical positions in the pharmaceutical, government, and academic research industries. The BSPS program is for anyone interested in a career in drug research and development, pharmaceutical marketing, or drug regulation.

Students in the BSPS program will be exposed to areas such as the chemistry of medicines, drug discovery, product development, and ethical considerations in research and practice. Those enrolled will have opportunities to use basic chemistry, mathematics, and biological training in a wide range of specialized research opportunities in the School of Pharmacy's state-of-the-art research laboratory.

Since the BSPS is an undergraduate degree, graduates with this degree are not eligible for licensure or to practice as a pharmacist without further education. However, graduates often go on to pursue graduate school or progress into professional degree programs such as pharmacy, medicine, allied health, or law.

From world religions – Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism – to major ethical issues – abortion, LGBT rights, stem cell research, social justice, and poverty – students will develop the analytical writing and comprehension skills necessary for advanced careers.
