Acceptance rate

The acceptance rate stood at 77%, as of Fall, 2021. The previous acceptance rate was 68.7% in 2020. 

Admission eligibility criteria 

  • International undergraduates are required to present a proof of completion of both primary and secondary education of at least 12 years. 
  • Students must have at least a 3.0 overall GPA on a scale of 4.0 in order to apply for these programs. 
  • In order to pursue post graduate programs at Central Michigan University, students should have bachelor’s degrees from regionally accredited institutions. 
  • They should also have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.7. 

Documents required

  • Official transcripts in sealed envelopes.
  • Proof of the student’s proficiency in English. 
  • Supplementary documents such as the student’s resume or recommendation letters. 

Tests required

CMU has recently initiated a test-optional policy for undergraduate admissions, which means that freshmen entering in 2023 may either apply with a SAT/ACT score or not.

How the university evaluates applicants 

The criteria include written exams, projects, presentations, and class participation. The institution also looks at learning logs, journals, independent reading reports, position papers, and other aspects for evaluating students.

  • Submit applications as early as possible, and before high school senior year. 
  • The transcripts must be sent along with the application letter. 
  • Make sure that you adhere to the GPA requirements.
