Established in 1826, Case Western Reserve University is a private research institution in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1967, the Case Institute of Technology and Western Reserve University merged to become the current institution. It is ranked at 176 in the 2023 QS World University Rankings. It is also ranked at 134 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2023. U.S. News also ranks it at 144 in its 2022 list of Best Global Universities. 

The university's location is made up of a 389-acre farm in the scenic suburb of Hunting Valley and 185 acres of land in Cleveland's University Circle, also referred to as "Ohio's most spectacular square mile." Eight other schools are a part of CWRU. In addition to a graduate studies programme, these include the schools of engineering, liberal arts, nursing, integrated social sciences, dental medicine, healthcare, jurisprudence, and management. Over 11,000 students from 86 different countries and all 50 US states are served by a faculty of about 3,300 members.
