About the University

More than 38,000 students attend California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), the second-largest university in the 23-member California State University system. CSUF was founded in 1957; California State University, Fullerton was founded as Orange County State College and did not change its name until 1972. The stunning 236-acre campus is located in Fullerton, north of Orange County, roughly 25 miles from downtown Los Angeles and about 21 miles from the nearest beaches. In eight colleges, the university offers 107-degree programmes. 35,401 undergraduate students are enrolled in Fullerton, a public university (fall 2021). The institution has grown quickly in recent years. The Performing Arts Center was erected in 2006, while the Student Recreation Centre and Steven G. Mihaylo Hall were added two years later. At CSUF, there are eight significant colleges that together provide 54 graduate and 55 undergraduate degree programmes. It is also the first institution in California to offer a master of science in nursing. The University ranks #191-200 in US UNI (universities) 2021 (QS Top Universities); =392nd in US College Rankings 2022 (THE Time’s Higher Education). According to US NEWS 2022, the university ranks #66 in Best Undergraduate Teaching and #222 in Best Value Schools. As of 2021, the University ranks #191- 200 (QS World University) in QS Top Universities.

Subject-Wise Ranking

According to US NEWS, the university performs best in its undergraduate engineering programmes, where it is ranked #42 in the list of the Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs. The subject rankings in engineering are as follows: 

  • #12 in civil engineering,
  • #7 in computer engineering, 
  • #11 in electrical/electronic/communications engineering, and
  • #153 in nursing.
