Bethany Lutheran College is a distinguished private liberal arts institution in Mankato, Minnesota, rooted in the Lutheran tradition. When the college was first founded in 1911, it was called Bethany Ladies College as it originally focused on educating young women. In 1927, it was acquired by the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS), becoming a co-educational institution until 1969, when the high school depatment closed. Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary started in 1946 and became a separate institution in 1975.
