All our pathways in Accounting give you maximum professional exemptions from many of the professional accounting bodies.

You can specialise in the area of accounting through either the BSc Hons Accounting or BSc Hons Accounting (Forensics) - both of these pathways are highly sought after by employers and following your programme, you will be employment-ready in these fields.

You could decide to maintain a focus on accounting and explore other areas such as financial economics or management through the BSc Hons Accounting (Financial Economics) or BSc Hons Accounting (Management ) - both pathways offering a highly sought after skills-set in the economic, public sector, finance or managerial environment.

The overall aim of the degree is to:

• develop students’ core knowledge and understanding of the principles, issues and applications of accounting and law and of the broader financial and economic environment;
• enable the development of intellectual skills including critical, analytical and problem-solving skills relevant to law, business finance and investment decision-making;
• highlight the relevance of legal knowledge to the needs of the community whether at a local, regional, national, European or international level;
• support the development of a range of subject-specific and generic transferable skills;
• develop students' ability to analyse, interpret and communicate legal and financial information; and
  • develop students' interpersonal, research, computing and communication skills.

This course meets the needs of those wishing to pursue a career in business with an interest in accounting and marketing as specialist areas. The programme allows students to combine two of the principle subject areas from the business arena and to develop the skills and expertise necessary for an aspiring professional career in accounting or marketing. In addition it provides the basis for graduates wishing to take a postgraduate programme up to doctoral level.

The programme seeks to provide the key business knowledge and skills essential for a graduate, seeking a managerial career in general business or a specialist interest in accounting and/or marketing.

The development of relevant employability skills is at the core of the BSc Hons Accounting and Marketing degree and a variety of opportunities exist within the programme, and its modules, to develop such skills. These skills include creative thinking; project management; strategic planning; business start-up; problem-solving; and interpersonal skills, as well as specific accounting and marketing skills.

If you are interested in following a career in accountancy or in going on to obtain professional accounting qualifications prior to entering a career in finance or business then this course is suitable for you.

This course is accredited by the major accounting bodies including Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Upon graduation, you have the opportunity to gain maximum exemption from the above mentioned professional body examinations. The level of exemptions available will depend on the specialism route you select and your achievements in your modules. Increased use of Artificial Intelligence (Al) can bring major social and economic benefits by automating tasks currently done by humans. AI computers can analyse and learn from information at higher accuracy and speed than humans can. It offers massive gains in efficiency and performance to most or all industry sectors, for example in Health, Financial Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Social Media. Al is software that can be integrated into existing processes, improving them, scaling them, and reducing their costs, by making or suggesting more accurate decisions through better use of information. c (BSc (Hons) Business Studies with Computing offers you the opportunity to take Business as a Major subject with Computing as a Minor subject. By studying business as a major you will develop skills in business and management functions, for example finance, marketing, supply chain management, leadership and organisational behaviour. By studying Computing as a minor, you will develop skills on managing the business’ computer hardware, network operations and cyber security. If you are interested in developing a career in business where analysing, developing and securing the business operating networking systems is a component, then BSc (Hons) Business Studies with Computing is the course for you.

This course is offered at the Magee campus by the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment. If you wish to develop your knowledge of Information Technologies (IT) to an advanced level, this is the course for you. This course will enable you to learn about the underlying principles of information technologies and to acquire skills for the development and maintenance of computer-based systems in modern organisations.

The BSc Hons Interactive Computing course will provide you with a strong underpinning knowledge in programming, with an emphasis on the design and development of highly interactive computing systems, using advanced technologies to enhance the user experience.

You will learn skills that enable you to design, produce and maintain complex interactive systems in a range of commercial, creative, social and educational context.

During the course, you will develop a high level of practical, conceptual and aesthetic skills as well as the critical means to integrate them to solve real-world problems.

The award winning BEng Hons Architectural Engineering has been designed for innovative individuals with an interest in building services and renewable technologies.

The programme aims to meet the increasing demand for skilled graduates with the expertise and knowledge to deliver energy conscious and environmentally sustainable solutions for buildings.

Pioneering research shapes our teaching. Throughout the course you will explore a number of themes including energy, building services, engineering principles, sustainability and management.

Employability is embedded within the programme structure to ensure that what you study is relevant in a real-world context. The degree offers a route to professional status with excellent employment opportunities.

The BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology and Management course is based on a modular structure across two semesters and is available as a four year sandwich course (although students with the necessary industrial experience may be exempted from placement). The course is also available in a part-time mode of study which involves students taking the course over five years (there is no placement year), and attending and completing all modules alongside the full-time students. The course leads to the degree of Bachelor of Science with Honors in Architectural Technology and Management. The DPP (Diploma in Professional Practice) is awarded on successful completion of an approved industrial placement year.

There is an Associate Bachelor exit award which is awarded to students who have successfully completed all the level 5 modules but do not wish to complete the full honours degree. Graduates with this award wishing to apply for Chartered Membership with CIAT can map their learning to the CIAT matrix and satisfy most of the knowledge unit requirements. Evidence of alternative experience will be required to complete the missing units.
