York University was established in 1959 as a non-denominational institution by the York University Act. The first class commenced in the year 1960, September. The first class started in Falconer Hall on the University of Toronto campus with a total of 76 students. In the fall of 1961, York University moved back to its prime campus, Glendon College, and began to focus on arts and part-time studies.
