Live, work and study abroad to discover how business is conducted internationally. Our MGB program combines applied learning and international experience across three countries. This immersive, culturally-focused program will help you develop career skills that you can use around the world. You’ll choose from four paths, each one offering a unique travel and business experience. You’ll also complete internships and projects.

Our MM program pairs perfectly with a non-business degree. This program begins immediately after you complete your undergraduate degree. You’ll build upon your undergraduate education and explore sustainable business practices. You’ll gain valuable work experience through our internship work term. You’ll graduate with core business skills essential to working within different organizational environments.

Biomedical engineering combines mechanical and electrical engineering with the study of human anatomy, physiology and biochemistry. You'll develop technologies to improve human health and healthcare around the globe.

The Master of Engineering in Biomedical Systems program will provide you with knowledge and experience in biomedical systems and biomedical devices. Learn to apply human physiology on scales from cells to organ systems to medical device design.

Our civil engineering program is project-based learning focused on the core theme of sustainability. You’ll learn all the skills you need for a career in the rapidly-emerging green economy.

In our MASc program, we emphasize research-intensive, sustainability-focused and interdisciplinary work. You’ll pursue advanced studies and carry out independent research. You’ll work on creative civil engineering design under faculty supervision. Your degree will culminate in a written thesis, which you’ll defend in an oral exam. Exceptional undergraduate students can fast-track into our PhD program.

The Master of Engineering in Telecommunications & Information Security program will prepare you for a career in specialized industries. We’ll train you to apply critical thinking to network- and database management. You’ll learn how to develop corporate security policies and procedures. You'll gain technical skills in everything from modelling network traffic to data mining and ethical hacking.

Address some of the world's biggest challenges head-on. Industrial ecology is an applied science, which provides knowledge and methods for addressing climate change, ecosystem degradation and other stresses on our planet. In this interdisciplinary program, you’ll work with experts in engineering, science, business and more. You'll learn to develop sustainable systems to support people, places and the planet.

In our MEng program, we emphasize research-intensive, sustainability-focused and interdisciplinary work. You’ll graduate with a deeper understanding of the complexities of sustainable development, including the influences of economic, political and regulatory factors. In your final term, you’ll undertake a graduate project in industrial ecology.

Effective environmental action and research require engagement – with the land and those who live on it. Conduct vital environmental research in partnership with international communities, First Nations, government agencies and more.

You’ll have access to a variety of research facilities across campus such as our Ethnoecology, Restoration and Conservation Ecology, and Visualization labs. UVic’s proximity to marine and alpine ecosystems, freshwater wetlands, rivers, lakes and the temperate rainforest makes us an ideal location for fieldwork.

The MA and MSc degree programs are research-intensive and focused on the creation of a thesis. This original work will show advanced research and knowledge of the environmental studies. You’ll have to attend a three day field camp at the beginning of our program.

In our MSc program, you’ll learn and use expert research methods. You’ll work under faculty supervision on a thesis or project of your choice. You’ll study a range of courses to broaden your knowledge of computer science. You’ll graduate with a well-rounded skill set that will give you a competitive edge in your career of choice, as well as a foundation for further advanced studies.

Our MASc program is a unique opportunity for advanced research and design in a field of mechanical engineering. You’ll customize your research and course load to match your area of study. This degree’s primary component is a written thesis, supplemented by coursework. Your thesis will report the results of your independent pursuits into mechanical engineering.

Our MSc in biochemistry or microbiology focuses on fundamental questions and problems about health and the environment. In this degree, you’ll take courses while you work on an original research thesis under the direct supervision of a faculty researcher. You will receive theoretical and hands-on training in advanced molecular techniques. During your time with us, you will publish your research in scientific journals and present your results at conferences.

Pursue mathematics research in the broad areas of applied, discrete or pure math. Your education will be supplemented by coursework and regular seminars. The sum of your research will be a thesis that will advance the field of mathematics. You’ll defend this final work in an oral examination that will prove your mastery of mathematics.

In this MSc program, you’ll be exposed to upper-level thinking and research in the field of statistics. You’ll benefit from the department’s ties to organizations like Vancouver Island Health Authority. You can complete this degree with either a thesis or a non-thesis based project. Our department specializes in a wide range of areas, including bioinformatics, biostatistics and statistical ecology.

The MSc program is a full-time, research-intensive program. You’ll complete coursework and work on a research thesis of your design. This will be original, innovative research that will evolve our understanding of biology. You’ll defend your thesis in an oral examination.

If you’re in the MSc program, you may be able to transfer into the PhD program with supervisory approval.

Located on the southern-most tip of an island, UVic is uniquely situated to offer you access to a rich and diverse biome to study.
