University of Tasmania Acceptance Rate

With an Acceptance rate of 75%, the University of Tasmania is a moderately selective university in the southern region of Australia. It is a diverse environment to study with 18,610 students total, 6,803 of whom are international students from 147 different countries that make up the student body on its campuses.

Admission Eligibility Criteria

  • For international students, an overall score of 65% is required (High school GPA)
  • To apply for a bachelor’s degree in the university aspirants need to have a minimum high school degree with a passing grade.
  • For Master's aspirants, a bachelor's degree is required with passing grades that meet the university requirement.
  • English proficiency test scores along with other Entrance exam scores are to be met as mentioned below. 

Documents Required

  • official transcripts of your tertiary academic record(s), if any; Keep in mind that internet copies won't be accepted.
  • Scores of English proficiency test
  • Grades from the entrance exam and a certified copy of the cumulative GPA.
  • RSA students should have a copy of their ID or passport (international students)
  • a copy of your school transcript (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
  • Essay 
  • CV/ Resume for PG Students
  • LORs if required by the course.
  • A valid copy of the Passport and 
  • Financial records proving financial soundness for at least a year.

Test Required/Average Score

  • SAT: Minimum 1030 or higher
  • ATAR: 65 or higher
  • GPA: 4 or higher
  • IELTS: Overall score of 6.5
  • TOEFL: 79.0 or Higher
  • PTE: 58.0 or Higher

How the University Evaluates Applicants

The general criteria are to judge applicants according to their prior academic records and overall academic achievements. English proficiency exam results are another important factor to consider. For overseas students, a minimum overall score of 65% is advised.

Tips for Applying to the University

  • With the exception of the MBBS programme, for which there is a 110 AUD non-refundable application cost, UTAS does not charge an application fee for either undergraduate or graduate programmes.
  • A physical copy of the application is to be sent to the College along with the application fees waiver.

Application Deadline

The important dates page can be used (accessible through the official University website) to determine the applicable deadlines, and all last application or offer dates adhere to the following guidelines.

  • The submission deadline for courses without quotas is the Friday before classes start in Week 1.
  • Deadline day for offers: Thursday of the first-course week.
  • The course's second week's Monday saw the last enrollment.
