Required Exams and Admission Requirements to Study at USQ

To get admission at USQ, there are some University of Southern Queensland requirements unique to each course that students must meet.

ATAR/Rank

Year 12 students seeking admission to USQ undergraduate degrees are assessed under ATAR. If a candidate does not have their Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank, then it would be derived by the university on the basis of their prior study, work experience, or professional qualifications.

Subject Prerequisites

The most common subject prerequisites for undergraduate degrees are English (4, SA), Math A (4, SA), Math B (4, SA), and Science (4, SA). This means that you should be able to demonstrate four semesters at an academically sound level.

Interviews, Auditions, and Folios

Some of the creative degrees at the University of Southern Queensland require students to appear for an interview or audition along with a folio of previous work.

Referee Reports

To get admission in some of the Psychology degrees, a student needs to submit their referee report to prove their sustainability. 

Work Experience

Having work experience will be beneficial as that can be used to convert into an entry rank.

Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) Requirement

Students seeking to stay on-campus need to show that they are coming to Australia on a student visa to gain a quality education. To address the GTE requirement, students need to provide a personal statement as a part of the application. 

Available Scholarships at the University

The University of Southern Queensland offers three scholarship programs that meet different needs of the students which are as follows:

USQ Equity Scholarship

For students going through financial hardships in commencing or continuing undergraduate programs.

Indigenous Student Success Program (ISSP)

To assist students from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and students who are facing financial hardships in commencing or continuing their undergraduate or postgraduate programs.

Destination Australia Scholarship 

Available for students enrolled at USQ Toowoomba to support domestic students in commencing full-time on-campus studies.

According to the Good Universities Guide, 2022, the University of Southern Queensland was ranked #1 on the basis of graduate starting salary. USQ’s initiative named Access and Career Fair helps students to set their foot in the industry. They offer networking opportunities to gain opportunities to develop the student’s skills and expertise.
