The institution has a THE ranking of 301-350 for 2022 and a QS World University ranking of 2023 of 363. The institution was founded in 1991, with its origins going back to the second half of the 19th century.The institution’s predecessors were the South Australian School of Art (1856), the first Teacher Training College (1876), and the School of Mines and Industries (1889). The faculty structure came into place aound 1992, with the Australian Technology Network (ATN) set up in 1993. The business school has earned the AACSB International accreditation, along with the EQUIS accreditation as well. The University has more than 37,000 students, including more than 6,800 international students. It has more than 226,000 alumni and 2,900+ staff members across six campuses. It also has 2,500+ partnerships with research organizations, global universities, industry organizations, and business entities.The University of South Australia has campuses at City West, Magill, City East, Whyalla, Mount Gambier, and Mawson Lakes. Four urban campuses plus two regional campuses belong to UniSA. The City East and City West campuses, two of the metropolitan campuses, are situated in the centre of Adelaide. Magill and Mawson Lakes are home to the remaining campuses.  Mount Gambier and Whyalla are where the regional campuses are located.
