Northumbria University is a public university known for its research and academic excellence. It is located in Newcastle in the United Kingdom. It is ranked at 401-500 in THE (2022) and 651-700 in the QS (2023) world university rankings. It was called Newcastle Polytechnic, formed in 1969 by fusing three colleges. 

The Polytechnic became the City College of Education in 1974, followed by the Northern Counties College of Education in 1975. In 1992, it got university status, becoming the Northumbria University.
