Three years later, in 1969, the University’s El Centro location was founded with a special focus on service to the large, diverse and growing Latino community. In 1978, the University opened the Chicago Teachers’ Center to offer professional development programs for urban teachers and administrators. Most recently, Northeastern joined the University Center of Lake County in 1996 as a founding member of a consortium of public and private universities offering college-level course work in Lake County. To complete the picture, this mix of essentially urban locations and partnerships also includes the Gensburg-Markham Prairie, which the University acquired in 1973. Consisting of 100 acres of unspoiled Illinois prairieland, it is located just south of Chicago—a beautiful preserve for future generations to learn from and enjoy.

This rich history tracks the dynamic growth of the city and the region. While keeping faith with its original mission—to provide an important resource for students from Illinois—today Northeastern attracts students from all over the world and is poised to become a model of regional public education with a truly global mission. Northeastern’s learning environment is enriched though the community’s ethnic, cultural, age, and language diversity. Throughout our history the University has maintained, fostered, and celebrated its commitment to diversity.

Today, Northeastern offers its 10,000 students more than 70 undergraduate and graduate programs in the arts, sciences, education, and business. Faculty encourage students to integrate classroom instruction with field-based learning, research, and service locally and around the globe.

In the year 1960, legislation came into effect to set up San Bernardino-Riverside State College. In 1963, an area of 441 acres was selected in north San Bernardino for the construction of the campus. In the same year, California State College at San Bernardino was adopted as the official name. Two years later, the college welcomed its first batch of 293 students and in 1970, a five-story library was established. In the year 1984, the campus in San Bernardino was recognized as a university, after which it was officially known as California State University, San Bernardino. During the 1990s, the university witnessed significant growth and development as it opened new centers for learning. In 1986, another campus was established in Palm Desert.

The university, which is amongst 23 campuses of the California State University system, commenced a cybersecurity program following which in 2008, it became a leader in the cybersecurity education. The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and the California State Board of Education gave their approval to the university's teaching credential programs as well.

San Bernardino, which is the location of the university's main campus, is one of the largest cities in California. The city hosts various events on an annual basis and is home to different museums. In addition, San Bernardino also maintains recreational facilities and boasts of well-developed infrastructure. The California State University, San Bernardino campus is located in the city's north-western part and is well-connected to the city's major hotspots. The San Bernardino campus is located in San Bernardino Mountains' foothills. Comprising state-of-the-art labs and modern facilities, students can look forward to a great learning experience. The Palm Desert campus, also known as PDC, offers both graduate and undergraduate programs and serves Riverside County and Coachella Valley. One of the main features of PDC is that it offers classes not during evenings but weekends as well.

Offering undergraduate, graduate, and online programs, the university caters to diverse needs and requirements. Some of the streams offered at California State University-San Bernardino are accountancy, aerospace, Arabic, art history, Asian studies, biology, criminal justice and many more. Students can also enroll themselves in online programs in diverse streams like teacher leadership, public administration, and criminal justice.

The university has a broad network of alumni engaged in diverse fields. Some of them are Sandra Finan (U.S. Air Force Brigadier General), Alida Gray (professional MMA fighter), Sharon Jordan (actress), Ernest Chavez (professional mixed martial artist), Robert Eatinger (United States Navy), Pedro Nava (California State Assemblyman, 35th district) and Wilmer Carter (California State Assemblymember, 62nd district).

The Florida Institute of Technology (FIT), or Florida Tech, was originally founded in 1958 in the USA. It was initially known as Brevard Engineering College and was established as a helping hand for NASA. The private doctoral research university ranks 202nd on the Best National Universities list 2022 (US News). 

Florida Tech backs up its quality of education and overall offerings with accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission On Colleges (SACSCOC). The university has acquired other accreditations: the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE), ABET, etc. Furthermore, the university has a yearly student count of around 3,500 and a faculty count of 450. As a result, the student-to-faculty ratio of the university is 15:1. 

The Florida Tech campus spreads across a massive 130 acres. It encompasses five distinct colleges: College of Psychology & College of Liberal Arts, College of Engineering and Science, College of Aeronautics, Nathan Bisk College of Business, and Honors College. The university is in the heart of Florida's space coast and comes paired with possible internship and job opportunities in companies like SpaceX, Kennedy Space Center, WFIT Radio, etc. Moreover, besides a great location, the campus also houses over 40 venues, including conference rooms, auditoriums, lecture halls, computer labs, athletic spaces, etc. 

The university offers over 200 bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs. Some of the most popular majors are: Aerospace, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, etc. However, despite the abundance of programs, the university is selective about its students and has an acceptance rate of 70.4%. 

Florida Tech has also produced its fair share of notable alums over the years. For instance, Don "The Dragon" Wilson, an American actor, martial artist, and professional kickboxer, graduated from this university. 

Lastly, the university leverages the concept of co-op education to provide undergrads with elective credit for work experience. The university students have worked at some of the most popular companies down in Florida, including Carley Corporation, Kennedy Space Center, MTV News,  CNN Deportes en Español, etc.
