The Museums and Galleries in Education MA combines academic study with professional educational practice in museums, galleries and heritage sites, looking at influential contemporary and historic theories in museum and gallery education. This programme also enables international collaborations to take place across the academic and professional field of museum studies.

This comprehensive course provides training in the analysis, design and assessment of structures under seismic actions and other extreme loading conditions.

The syllabus covers a comprehensive set of topics related to structural engineering, earthquake engineering, engineering seismology, soil dynamics and advanced numerical techniques.

All of our MSc courses are career-orientated and cover both theoretical background and practical design considerations. Lectures are given mainly by full-time staff but important contributions are made by visiting professors and guest lecturers who are eminent industrialists.

The MA in Gender and Women’s Studies and English combines teaching and scholarship in Gender and Women’s Studies and in English Literature. This MA is for those interested in Gender and Women’s Studies who want to pursue literary studies or who have a particular interest in women’s literature or feminist literary theory.

You will take core courses in each of the disciplines and can choose from a range of optional courses (normally taking three in total, with at least one from the Department of English and Creative Writing). The MFA builds on the MA, providing the opportunity for a hybrid approach in the second year and the chance to deepen and extend your professional practice.

The MSc in Renewable Energy Development (RED) is delivered by the International Centre for Island Technology (ICIT) at our Orkney Campus.

It has been designed around three key drivers of renewable energy development:

The programme is designed to specifically address these key drivers of renewable energy development in the UK and abroad.

The course aims to give its graduates cross-cutting skills in the renewables sector.
