You’ll learn about the fundamentals of how businesses operate, and as you progress through your degree you’ll be introduced to the advanced concepts of many management disciplines. Our course offers a range of topics for you to explore, including international business, finance, entrepreneurship, economics, marketing and many more.

Studying Management with Foundation Year (BSc) encourages a wide range of relevant, highly transferable and sought-after skills.

These help to prepare you for the challenges you will face after university; everything from a career in a multinational corporation to starting and running your own business.

This introduces the study of key business topics.

Students start to develop business, investigation and project skills in a further module devoted to a range of business-related activities such as developing a business plan for a new start-up. There are five core modules and a choice of a further business, economics or language optional module. The modules work together to build your knowledge and develop key skills and techniques.

This BA Hons Business Enteprise course is designed for students who:

• want to start a new enterprise
• want to take over the management of an existing business

Business enterprise is about the creation of wealth. This course focuses on the ability of entrepreneurship to challenge the norm and disrupt established markets through the creation of new ventures.

This programme will allow you to develop an awareness of academic and practitioner perspectives and apply them in real-life settings. It will also give you the real-world skills that are highly valued in a competitive employment market.

Our BSc in Business Management is designed to develop your understanding of management techniques and the forces at work in business. You’ll build on your creative thinking, communication and analytical skills while learning about key business practices like accounting, marketing, human resources and organisational innovation.

The first year will provide you with a solid foundation in business and management theory and practice. In your second and third years you can tailor your studies through a wide range of option modules, allowing you to build expertise in a particular field of business and prepare for your chosen career path.

If you select the 'Year in Industry' route, you will have the unique opportunity to spend the third year of your degree on an industrial placement with an employer in a role relevant to your field of study. Therefore, your degree programme will last four years and after the placement you will come back to university for your final year of study.

You will graduate with a working knowledge of the real-world strategies and processes used by contemporary organisations from small- to medium-sized enterprises to large multinationals and across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

This Business Management degree will equip you with a firm understanding of the interconnectivity of different business functions and management theories, leaving you ready to challenge conventional business and management thinking.

Combining business management with modern languages and cultures gives your degree a truly global focus.

Your time will be split 50/50 between the two subjects. Throughout the course, you'll study key areas of business management, such as corporate social responsibility, marketing, operations and supply chain management, with optional modules in areas like international business, digital marketing, and language and organisation.

The flexibility of the modern languages part of the degree means you have the option to study business management with either one or two of these languages: Catalan, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. You can study Italian on this degree but only alongside a second language as well as business management. Luxembourg Studies is available as an option from year two onwards, either on its own or with a second language and business management.

This four-year degree course is jointly run by the Management School and the Department of Languages and Cultures. It offers the chance to study Spanish alongside management studies and brings all of the associated benefits of language studies with it - such as the opportunity to gain an international perspective on management practices, enhance your problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, improve your communication skills, and helps you to boost to your employability.

You will need an A level in Spanish or be of a similar standard. In your first year you will study the Spanish language and culture at an advanced level. Alongside this, you will choose from either Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Management and Organisations or Marketing.

Business organizations are reliant on people and, whichever career you choose, you will need to make sense of the behaviors of others in your workplace.

Our BSc Business Management (Human Resource Management) course offers a wide variety of modules on topics including organizational psychology, international aspects of people management, and employee relations, in addition to core business and management topics.

You’ll gain an overall view of human resource management and explore different ways to approach human resources. As well as having the opportunity to take further specialist pathway modules, you can also complement the core modules with electives from other pathways.

On the Finance and Business BSc, you develop an in-depth understanding of modern financial markets alongside the essential management skills you’ll need in your career. You study diverse aspects of finance, business and management, economics and accounting, gaining an essential understanding of the context within which business is conducted today.

In Finance, you focus on corporate finance, financial institutions, markets, derivative products and banking. In Business, you cover the different aspects of the global business world, entrepreneurship, leadership and the processes of management. You also build your knowledge of analytical techniques to apply throughout your course, including statistics and mathematics for finance and economics. 

While broadening your knowledge of finance and business, you can tailor your degree to suit your desired career path through a wide range of options including blockchain finance, cryptocurrency markets, entrepreneurship, global supply chain, law and ethics.

Theory and practice are given equal emphasis to give a holistic understanding of the role of Business Administration as well as knowledge of and skills associated with business start-up, growth and innovation.
