Computer Information Systems Pathway Program Leading to a Canadian Bachelor of Computer Information Systems (BCIS) at University of the Fraser Valley is a 4-year course where in the first two years you will be studying online with University of the Fraser Valley. What are the English proficiency requirements for going to UFV?

As per current requirements, students have to score IELTS 6.5 with no individual band less than 6 or TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) – score of at least 570 (or 230 if computer based score), plus a minimum TWE (essay) score of 4.0, or IBT score of 88 with no section below 20.

Can I study and work part time to help finance myself in Canada?

Yes, you can in certain circumstances. However, when applying for a student authorization you must be able to prove to the visa officer that you have enough finances to support yourself the entire length of the program. International students can work off campus without a work permit up to 20 hours per week during studies and 40 hours per week during vacations. They can earn approximately C $10.25 per hour. Students can work full time off campus during co-op terms and can earn approximately C$ 10 – C$ 15 per hour, amounting to C$ 400 to C $ 1,000 per month. You are allowed to work in Canada for 1-3 years after completing your academic program, depending on the length of the program. Visa

Can we get a Post Study Work visa if we study for this program in India and then for 2 years at UFV?

Canadian Post-Study Work visas of upto 3 years are available to all the students who have completed at least 2 academic years on campus in Canada.

How much are living expenses for a year in Canada?

Living expenses in Canada for international students are CAD 12,000-15,000 which has to be deposited in a Canadian bank as GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificate) if a student is opting for a visa under SDS route.

Will UFV refund my fees if my application for a study permit is not approved?

If your application for a visa is not approved, we ask that you fax us (1-604-855-7153) a copy of the refusal letter from the Canadian Embassy prior to the semester start date. UFV will then process a 100% refund minus a $100 administration fee. Please note the refund process takes approximately four weeks.

Payments

What is the process of payment for this program?

Initially you will be paying only non refundable application fees to the University. Once you receive a final offer letter to join the pathway program, you will have to pay the first installment of your fees of 4.4 Lakh (inclusive of GST). Next installment will be due after 3 months of batch start.
