TGT means a trained graduate teacher. The title refers to a teacher who has completed their graduation and has a B.Ed. degree.

  • These teachers are allowed to teach at the secondary school level. 
  • They can teach up to 10th grade without any special teacher's training. These teachers are considered skilled because of their experience with graduation and BEd. 
  • A trained graduate teacher can teach subjects like mathematics, science, English, history, economics, and local languages.
  • Specific eligibility criteria have been decided for those who wish to be recognised as TGTs.
  • A trained graduate teacher can be at most 35 years old. To be qualified as a TGT, one has to score at least 45% at graduation. 
  • If they have graduated with the required marks plus a BEd degree from a recognised university, they can become a trained graduate teacher. 
  • To be eligible, one must also clear the second paper of CTET, a test conducted by the Central Government. 
  • The Central Teacher Eligibility Test is known as CTET. This exam is organised twice a year by the Central Government. 
  • You must clear the exam's first paper to teach classes 1 through 5. Passing the second paper to teach classes 6 through 10 is also necessary. 
  • To appear for this exam, you have to be a graduate first. 
  • Additionally, you should be in the final year of BEd. Those with a two-year elementary education diploma can also take this test.
  • A trained graduate teacher can earn a good salary, subject to the schools they are a part of during their B.Ed. years. They learn about various teaching methods, develop leadership skills, undergo training in handling students, and acquire knowledge about school subjects.
