'SLA' stands for Service Level Agreement. It is a written agreement between a customer and a service provider. It is an agreement that chalks out the details of the services that a service provider will deliver to them.

More About SLA

  • There is no fixed format of a Service-Level Agreement. The agreement will be different for each unique situation.
  • Usually, it includes the description of the services to be provided to that customer, such as deadlines of delivery, scope of work, and hours worked. Sometimes, other aspects like the expected quality of services, responsibilities of the service provider, and customer rights can be included in it.
  • Service-level agreements help ensure that the service provider and the recipient are on the same page about important issues.
  • It helps prevent miscommunications and ensures that the customer receives the level of services that they are paying for.
  • SLA becomes a standard for performance measurement. Customers can use it to ensure they're getting the promised quality of services. Service providers use it to guide their teams about the quality of services expected by the customers.
  • There are to types of SLA’s; Formal SLAs and Informal SLA’s.
  • Formal SLA’s are legally binding, while informal ones are not. If a business has entered into a formal SLA, it can be used in court to settle legal disputes between the two parties.

Additionally, SLAs serves as a final section that increases the understanding between the service provider and the client ensuring promised delivery.
