As the company's public face, the CEO is responsible for all outward-facing communication, although the COO often manages internal matters based on the CEO's preferences. • When it comes to starting a business, the COO frequently possesses more real-world experience than the original CEO, who may have had a great idea but lacked the startup skills necessary to see the business through to completion and oversee its initial phases of growth.
